Baked Mumma Stacy and her 2 rug rats
Welcome to ‘Baked Beans Mumma’ a blog that’s a place to share, care and build up other parents rather than judge, criticise and tear down.
I recently told my hubby I was taking part in a 30 day Ab challenge. Being the fitness fanatic he is, he offered me $1000 if I completed the program in its entirety. I was pumped, determined and positive I’d finish. I lasted 2 days!
So I am thrilled to launch my blog after talking about it for almost 12 months. I definitely am not the type of person who follows through on most things, so this is a huge achievement. Having said that, this may be my first and last post!!!!
What is a Baked Beans Mumma?
Long before I procreated a friend told me about an article she read about different parenting styles. There was the Helicopter mum, notoriously hovering over their kids, the Quinoa mum, constantly correcting the way you pronounce things – it’s Keen-wah, not Quin-O-A, the I cooked it myself mum, who always brings home-made goods to the school Fete, and then there was the Baked Beans Mum.
The Baked Beans Mum is the one, who for no lack of effort, just cannot get her shit together. She’s the mum who makes you feel better that you fed your kids toasties last night because she has given her kids baked beans for the last week.
My girlfriend told me, after reading me the article, you’ll be the baked beans mum.. And by george she was right!
I try my very best to be organised and sometimes I succeed (high-five me) but too often than not, the wheels just seem to fall off the tracks!!
I very rarely RSVP to kid’s parties, if I make it all and when I do attend I often forget to purchase a gift. If I have managed to organise my shit and grab a gift, you can bet your bottom dollar it is not wrapped. I’m always late, without fail. For 90% of Miller’s (Miss 5) kinder life she was 30 minutes late, this is something I am not entirely proud of! My kids will often go un-bathed for day’s as we ran out of time to fit one in and I am forever scouping the kids (and sometimes hubby’s) unwashed clothes out of the laundry basket as I haven’t gotten around to doing that load yet – or any!
But for some reason this chaos and disorganisation brings a raw and somewhat organic approach to life that I really love, even if it is accidental.
I cannot tell you the amount of times people have told me a crazy story about their kids and finished with ‘I wouldn’t tell this to anyone else, but with you I know it’s OK’, this is a great honour. To know someone trusts me enough to confess their truth is a blessing.
Or is that just that they know I am incapable of judging as I have done much worse! Either way, I’m happy.
Bakedbeansmumma encompasses this and a whole lot more. Parenting is a world full of joy and happiness but also self-doubt, guilt, fear and shame and the latter aren’t usually discussed at a dinner party. I’m going to lay my life out there, warts and all, and see where it takes me. I encourage you to come along for the ride!!
Cheers, love and survival,
Stace xxoo

Hey Stack! Love it love it love it! I am a bit of a baked beans mum more often then not but I do have my moments of getting it “right” haha I would say I’m a schizophrenic baked beaner. Many personalities of my beans, sometimes they’re microwaved, served with eggs and toast or Quin-o-a and other times they’re served cold, you’re lucky I opened the tin for you!
One of my favourite bean story would be when I had a shit day, kids were unhappy and shit, I was shit, shit mood, shit weather, shit kept going wrong. I would’ve loved to have thrown a plate (or person) but instead I settled for the garage remote at the Brick wall. At that moment, Owen decided to return to the garage to tell me something (probably,y whinge about shit actually) and the garage remote bounced off wall and scored him a beauty on his eye socket…..
And the winner of mother of the year goes to…………….

HAHAHAHAHA you have made my day Truds, we really are 2 Leos of a kind!!! I threw a plastic cup at Brent’s head once in a moment of baked bean schizophrenia. He ducked, it hit the TV, bye bye $2000 LCD TV… Then Miller went around telling everyone, mumma broked the TV by throwing a cup at it!
